Scoutmasters update: Campouts for Troop 619

Greetings Committee and PLC of Troop 619,
I wanted to provide an update on campouts for next 6 months.
August 16-18 is dispersed camping on the Mogollon Rim. I will be going up this weekend to look at various dispersed sites to find some that will meet our need.

September 20-22 will be our recruitment campout with Arrow of Light Dens. Camp Geronimo Campsite 2 has been reserved. Cost will be $6 per person for the environmental fee to Council. I will be meeting with Kyle and Anya next week to discuss flyer to handout at Roundtable. Kyle will be visiting August and September Roundtable with Lisa to promote the event during Cub Scout breakout.

October 25-27 is Pinnacle Peak District Camporee. This year’s theme is Greek Mythology. I will be reaching out to the Camporee Chair to see what cost will be and when registration will open. I would like for us to have most of our scouts attend. Past years camporees have had little participation from the troop and this is a good event to build Patrol and Troop bonding/teamwork in preparation for summer camp and other outings.

November 22-24 will be our campout for living history month. I have reserved Pioneer Living Museum per the PLC’s request. Cost will be $5 per person for the weekend. We will be also getting a list of small service projects from the Museum to provide community service as well during the campout.

December 13-15 will be a backpacking trip. Location is to be determined closer to event. Most likely this will be a round trip of 6-7 miles to make it easier for younger scouts and myself. (lol) There will not be a camping cost as it will be dispersed camping and not at designated campground.

January 17-20 is to be a camping trip. PLC is to still decide if it will be a snow campout or not. January 20th is Martin Luther King day so everyone should be out of school to allow us to make this a 4 day 3 night campout.

I will be sending a campout schedule to all the families so they have advanced notice of what dates the PLC has already picked for campouts.

Wreath sales and annual dues

Good afternoon Scout parents,

I wanted to let you all know about our Holiday wreath sales and upcoming annual dues.

Scouts we given the order brochure and form for the wreath sales at the end of last nights meeting. We are selling only 2 items from the brochure, the 22 inch Noble Fir Wreath (item# W2) for $25.00 and the Centerpiece (item# C5) for $15.00. Sherwood Forest Farms only ships items in cases with the same product so we do need to limit what items we have available. Orders are due back by October 29. The wreaths will be delivered the week following Thanksgiving and will be made available for distribution the day they are received. I will deliver them to you if needed.

***Direct Delivery (the red side of the envelope) is not available as they are more expensive for buyers due to shipping cost and there is a minimum number of pieces that we must order for this option.***

The Committee has set the cost for 2019 Annual Dues. Due to the new Council fee(paid as Friends of Scouting) and due to the increased cost of our program the annual dues have raised to $205.00. I know this is a considerable increase but there are payment options. You may pay the full $205.00 OR you can take advantage of the new payment schedule:

$100.00 due by our Nov 5 meeting
$35.00 due by our Feb 4 meeting
$35.00 due by our May 6 meeting
$35.00 due by our Aug 5 meeting

If your Scout has fundraising you may apply the available amount in their Scout account to the annual dues. If you choose to use fundraising money please let me know and I will make the necessary adjustments in the Scout account showing the amount paid through fundraising.

If you have any questions regarding wreaths or annual dues please email me or see me at the meeting.
